TEAR TROUGH

WHAT IS TEAR TROUGH TREATMENT?

Dark circles, eye bags and sunken, tired looking eyes are imperfections that can make you look older than your age. The tear trough dermal filler procedure that we offer can significantly improve and restore your tired appearance, making you look brighter and more refreshed.

The treatment is primarily aimed at the lines and depressions that travel from the nose and around the under-eye area. They become gradually more pronounced due to skin sagging and thinning with age. This can be amplified by "eye bags" which are fat deposits under the eyes as we age.

Our tear trough dermal filler treatment aims to reduce the dark circles or "panda eyes" and the depression (tear trough) or eye bags. This is done by filling in and raising the depressed areas and also thickening the skin overlying the dark blood vessels in the area, making it less visible.

WHO IS SUITABLE FOR TEAR TROUGH TREATMENT?

Anyone who has:

  • Tear trough

  • Sunken eyes

  • Dark circles around the eye area

  • Tired looking eyes

  • Eyes bags

WHAT DOES THE PROCEDURE INVOLVE?

To minimise pain and discomfort, an anaesthetic cream is usually applied 20 to 30 minutes before the procedure.

Skin markings are carefully selected and placed after cleaning the skin with antiseptic. With the help of a special blunt needle (a cannula), dermal filler is injected into the target zone. This reduces the risk of accidental puncture of blood vessels which may cause bruising or injecting into the blood vessels. The procedure is delicate and the special needle allows accurate control and placement of the filler.

You are advised not to touch the treated area and avoid make-up for a minimum of 4 hours to reduce the risk of infections. We will provide specific aftercare instructions via a leaflet. Like all filler procedures, the results are immediately visible and should last approximately 12 to 18 months. There is always the option to further refine future injections to your personal tastes and preferences due to the non-permanent nature of the treatments.
